Taekwondo is both a competitive, Olympic sport and a practical option for self-defence.
We are a fun friendly club open to anyone. Kidsgrove and Newcastle Taekwondo is a dynamic Korean martial art, characterised by patterns, sparring techniques, power techniques, particularly impressive high section and air-borne kicks.
Some choose for self-defence, others train to lose weight or keep fit, some love to compete in local and national competitions and others come because it is a great way for families to have fun together. Whatever your reasons for training with us, you will find that Taekwondo has many benefits; increased fitness and flexibility, increased confidence, a means of self-defence, the opportunity to compete in competitions, become an umpire or instructor and make a bunch of great new friends!
Honour Discipline Respect Repeat
Each week everyone from complete beginners to black belts attend core sessions to learn kicking and punching techniques as well as patterns and self-defence. We run sparring training for all levels, in preparation for the wide range of competitions taking place throughout the year.
Taekwondo is both a competitive, Olympic sport and a practical option for self-defence. Taekwondo vastly improves one's physical fitness, as well as increasing self-confidence and mental discipline.
We don’t take ourselves too seriously all the time, but we do train in a disciplined environment upholding the five tenets of Taekwondo – Courtesy, Integrity, Self-Control, Perseverance and Indomitable Spirit.
The club is part of the T.A.G.B. (Taekwondo Association of Great Britain), the largest single martial arts association in Europe. The T.A.G.B. currently has well over 20,000 members training in over 500 clubs across the UK.
Established in 1997 and weekly training since then.
